Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has shared his delight with the progress that Inter have made and the current status of the team following the emphatic 5-0 hammering of Shakhtar Donetsk last night in the Europa League semi final.

Lukaku netted Inter’s final two goals of the game at the Merkur Spiel-Arena. His brace came after a Lautaro Martinez brace and a goal from Danilo D’Ambrosio.

“I think the team is doing well, each of us is trying to do our best. It was really difficult but now you can see the results of the hard work that we have done both physically and tactically. We are all in great shape and this is a very good thing,” he told UEFA TV following the match.

Next he spoke on the discipline that Inter showed during the first half and how the second half differed to the first half.

“We were very good at combinations. In the first half we kept the two central defenders very close and this caused them some difficulties because our physicality was too much for them to bear. In the second half we showed our power and our game mechanics.”

In conclusion he downplayed scoring records and admitted that he and his teammates must be thinking about upcoming opponents Sevilla now.

“I think that records are meant to be broken but at the end of the day we have to think about the next opponent, who are the favourites to win. We have to prepare very well again, tomorrow [today] we will recover then we will think about it.”

This season the Belgian national team player, who joined Inter in a club record deal ahead of this season from Manchester United, has made 50 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored a highly impressive 33 goals and provided six assists.
