Inter’s good relations with Manchester United could help them to sign Chris Smalling according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Smalling impressed the Nerazzurri with his performances whilst out on loan at Roma during the 2019/20 season and the Englishman fits the bill for the kind of player Inter are looking for to bolster their ranks with in that he is a ready-made player with the right experience to help Inter.

Roma are keen on signing Smalling on a permanent basis and it is also understood that Newcastle United want the 30-year-old.

Manchester United are currently demanding in the region of €20-25 million for Smalling but Inter’s good relations with the Red Devils could benefit them and allow them to get Smalling at a lesser price.

In the 2019/20 season Smalling made 37 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored three goals and provided two assists in.
