Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has been named the best player in the Europa League semi finals following a fan vote held on tournament organisers and European football’s governing body UEFA’s website.

Lautaro has been named the player of the week for his performance in Inter’s resounding 5-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in yesterday’s Europa League semi final at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The Argentine national team player scored two goals and also provided the assist for one of strike partner Romelu Lukaku’s two goals.

The highly rated 22-year-old, who has been with Inter since 2018, has beaten Lukaku, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and Sevilla’s Yasine Bounou to being named player of the week.

This season Lautaro, who is under contract with Inter through to the end of the 2022/23 season, has made 48 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just over 3500 minutes, Lautaro has scored 21 goals and tallied seven assists.
