Former Inter striker Aldo Serena has sang the praises of Inter’s strike force of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez for their performances this season.

The Belgian and Argentine national team players have combined for a highly impressive 54 goals between them this season with Lukaku having scored 33 and Lautaro having netted 21 goals.

“They are one of the strongest partnerships around. Lukaku is playing at full stregnth whilst Lautaro has room for growth and wants to learn,” he explained in an interview with Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, which appeared in yesterday’s print edition of the Milan based news outlet.

“Then there’s Antonio Conte. The way he makes them play excites them. Are they like me and Ramon Diaz? Ramon and I were more specialised, we divided the sectors. He was more lateral and quick, I hunted in the box, I defended the ball. Lautaro and Lukaku are universal. They know how to do everything and they do it well.”

Serena proceeded to offer some advice to 22-year-old Lautaro, who has been heavily linked with a potential move to La Liga side Barcelona for a considerable amount of time now.

“If I were in Lautaro now I would think about the situation very well. The future of Barça seems to be reinvented whilst Inter are preparing to be more and more competitive. With Lukaku he could wreak havoc and open a great cycle like Pulici and Graziani of the golden years.”

Serena spent 11 years with Inter over two separate spells. The now 60-year-old, who also played for the likes of AC Milan and Juventus in his career, made 223 appearances across all competitions for Inter, in which he scored a total of 78 goals and provided 11 assists for his teammates.
