Inter central defender Diego Godin has stressed that he and all of his Inter teammates want to win in tomorrow night’s Europa League final against Spanish club Sevilla.
“Do I have any advice for my teammates? I don’t recommend anything, I try to do what needs to be done in training,” he explained to the gathered media at the pre-match press conference ahead of the match which took place a short time ago.
“We all want to win, and to do so we have to play with our hearts from the very first moment, as a team, as well as doing what we studied in training and giving something more.
“The winner always writes history, we must do everything to bring this cup home, this is what we all want. The fans are far away but we feel their support. I have no advice to give, we want to win.”
In conclusion the experienced Uruguayan national team player was asked if he has given Inter manager Antonio Conte any advice seeing as he has won the competition twice in the past: “Yes I did but I cannot say what I told him.”
Godin joined Inter ahead of this season and despite a very slow and difficult start, the former Atletico Madrid player has recently turned the corner and is playing as expected.
During the course of this season, the 34-year-old has made 35 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just over 2700 minutes, he has scored one goal and provided a single assist for his teammates.
