Inter club captain and number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has revealed he is looking at tonight’s Europa League final against La Liga club Sevilla no different than he would to any other game that he plays.

“Playing in a final means playing a match to win a title. It is therefore an important match, that’s for sure, in any case I live it like any other match,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, ahead of the match, which is scheduled to kick off at 21:00 local time in Cologne, Germany.

“Now we are here in Düsseldorf and we are preparing for the match as we would for any other match since we have been here.”

Handanovic then proceeded to discuss the importance of being a group in football and discussed how he and all of his teammates get along with one another.

“I think that being or not being a group means a lot for a football team. We get along really well together, there is the right mix between youth and experience.

“We are at ease on the pitch, which is the most important thing after all. Among teammates it is essential to help each other on the pitch. In non-football situations you can make up for it in other ways if necessary, but on the pitch you must really be a team.”

In conclusion the experienced Slovenian shot-stopper was asked what kind of game he expects against Sevilla and what approach he expects the Spanish side to take against them.

“I don’t think Sevilla will go out of their way. They will play their game like we will play ours. It will be an open match in which both teams will fight to win and to raise the trophy, each with their own means and their own philosophy. So far we have been able to witness a Sevilla that imposes their game on the opponents.”

This season the 36-year-old, who is under contract with Inter until the end of the upcoming season, has made 47 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has managed to keep a total of 16 clean sheets.
