Inter’s owners the Suning group are looking for sponsors and approval from the Chinese government to make their dream to sign Barcelona star Lionel Messi a reality, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The report details how the Suning group are working hard to attract new sponsors in order to sink the investment on the 33-year-old Argentine star, whose future at Barcelona currently seems in doubt after reports suggested that the player is looking to leave the club. Suning believe that signing Messi would not only enhance the image of Inter around the world, but would also allow them to further sell Inter to the ever-expanding Chinese audience.
Historic sponsor Pirelli could also be part of a large group of companies that Inter are working with to try and make the dream for Messi a reality, the report continues, and allow the Milanese club to compete with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City for his signature. Inter have been improving their financial situation since the arrival of the Suning group in 2018, with new TV deals and other sponsorships being brought on.
