Inter striker Romelu Lukaku reflected upon his debut season with the Nerazzurri and his emotions upon losing the Europa League final in a post on his Instagram page earlier today.

The 27-year-old Belgian striker joined the Nerazzurri in a record-breaking deal worth €80 million last summer from Manchester United, entrusted to fill the void left behind from the departure of Argentine striker Mauro Icardi, who had been a talismanic figure of the Milanese club for the previous few campaigns.

Lukaku quickly found success in Italy under the guidance of new coach Antonio Conte, who had long been a fan of the former Chelsea and Everton striker. This season the Belgian striker made 51 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 4189 minutes. In that time, he scored 34 goals and provided six assists, breaking multiple records and setting his best ever goal scoring season.

Lukaku discussed the season and his thoughts alongside a photo of the squad in training.

First of all i want to say thank you for all what you guys have done for my family and myself. This year as a team we grown a lot together and it’s an honour to represent a club that i loved since i’ve been a kid. Yes what happened in the final pissed me off but i will fight back. I never had shit the easy way in life as many of you know and this experience will make me stronger. 1 thing is for sure inter is not dead and this experience will make us better as a team! there’s unity and we’re heading the right direction.
