Inter owned midfielder Radja Nainggolan could return to Milan and join the Nerazzurri squad should Massimiliano Allegri take over from Antonio Conte as the head coach of the team, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Sardinian newspaper L’Unione Sarda.

The report details how the 32-year-old Belgian midfielder’s departure from the Nerazzurri isn’t as obvious as before, as there is more of a possibility of retaining the player should Allegri take over from Conte next week. The Milanese club will meet with the 51-year-old Italian coach to discuss his future and transfer market objectives, with a final decision about his future expected by Friday.

Cagliari would like to keep Nainggolan, the report continues, but Allegri may want to keep him in the squad. The 53-year-old Italian gave Nainggolan his Serie A debut with Cagliari in 2010 against the Nerazzurri. The Belgian scored six goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances this season.
