Inter striker Lautaro Martinez continues to be Barcelona’s favourite to replace Luis Suarez according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.
Newly appointed Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has told Suarez that he is not part of his plans and once several sales are completed, Barcelona will make a fresh attempt to sign 23-year-old Lautaro, who they have been courting for a considerable amount of time, in September.
Barcelona will make an offer on a player plus cash basis, the same basis of their most recent offer which consisted of €70 million plus Junior Firpo who was being valued at €41 million.
The report from the Spanish news outlet goes on to explain that Barcelona have identified Lyon’s Memphis Depay as an alternative in the event that they are unable to get a deal done for Lautaro.
During the 2019/20 season, Lautaro made 49 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored 21 goals and provided seven assists for his teammates.
