Italian football journalist Paolo Condo has shared his belief that Inter manager Antonio Conte would be making a ginormous mistake if he is to walk away from Inter.

Conte’s future as Inter manager is right up in the air at the moment due to his several outbursts during the 2019/20 campaign and the former Italian national team boss, who is just one year into a three year contract, is due to meet with Inter president Steven Zhang tomorrow to discuss his future.

Many reports have stated that Inter wish to avoid sacking Conte due to the costs involved but an agreement could be reached over severance pay which would save them money or Conte could even chose to resign which would mean Inter would be due him nothing.

“A farewell to Inter would be a sensational own goal by Conte because the team is now very close to winning,” Condo remarked in an interview with Italian radio station Radio 24 show ‘Tutto Convocati’ earlier on today.

“Going away would mean a great chance for his rival Allegri to become the first to win on the benches of Juve, AC Milan and Inter.”

In his first season in charge of the Nerazzurri, 51-year-old Conte managed Inter in 53 matches across all competitions, of which he won 32, drew 12 and lost nine. He led Inter to a second place finish in Serie A and also had Inter finish as runners-up in the Europa League.
