Former Inter central defender Lucio has thanked God for allowing him the opportunity to play for Inter under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho.

Lucio joined Inter in the Summer of 2009 from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and spent three years with Inter. In the Summer of 2012 it was mutually agreed that the remainder of his contract would be terminated and he proceeded to controversially join Inter’s arch rivals Juventus.

“I thank God for playing for a strong team like Inter, with an excellent coach. It was a gift from God,” he told sports broadcaster Fox Sports, yesterday.

Lucio won a treble with Inter in his first season with the club and got revenge on Bayern Munich as Inter beat them in the Champions League final to complete the historic treble. He proceeded to speak on what it meant to him to win the Champions League with the Nerazzurri.

“Without a doubt, one of my great dreams was winning a Champions League and it happened in 2010. The week before the final was very complex, so many things were put to the test.”

During his spell with the club, Lucio made 136 appearances across all competitions. The former Brazilian national team player scored five goals and provided nine assists for his teammates and won a total of six trophies.
