Inter players and club employees all wrote to manager Antonio Conte urging him not to leave and remain with the club in the days leading up to yesterday’s meeting according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Conte met with Inter management and club president Steven Zhang yesterday to discuss his future with the club and after three and a half hours it was decided that the former Italian national team manager would be remaining as the club’s manager.

The report explains that prior to the meeting, Conte was literally flooded with love and this played a part in his deicsion to not leave.

He has understood that he has made a mark at Inter and won over fans despite the fact he is a Juventus icon. In the past few days the 51-year-old has felt both protected, respected and most of all loved.
