It is possible for Inter to sign Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Messi arriving at Inter is entirely dependent on club owners Suning, who are attracted by the prospect of bringing Messi to the Nerazzurri club, who they bought a controlling stake in back in 2016.

It’s an operation that, if possible, will go through Zhang Jindong, who owns Suning, who will need to get it cleared by the Chinese Communist party. It is a deal that needs to be authorised at the highest political level because it is more commercial than it is footballing wise.

There are also a number of reasons that Messi could end up at Inter. He and his father have both recently purchased property in Milan not far from Inter’s headquarters and there are the Italian tax laws which both Inter and Messi himself could benefit from.

The report concludes that Messi is by no means certain to arrive at Inter but the possibility of him ending up at the Nerazzurri club cannot be ruled out at this time.
