Lega Serie A are orientated to accept Inter and Atalanta’s requests to postpone their first matches of the fast approaching 2020/21 season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter sent an official request to Lega Serie A yesterday to have their first match postponed to enable them to have more time to recover from the 2019/20 season that only ended a week ago for them and be able to prepare for the 2020/21 season.

Inter’s request was followed up by one from Atalanta, who also need that bit extra time to recover due to going further in the Champions League.

The report explains that the decision will be taken at the next Lega Serie A board of directors meeting. If accepted, Inter and Atalanta will begin their 2020/21 seasons on the weekend of September 26 and then play the postponed first match in between the third matchday.
