Italian Journalist Capuano On Inter Coach Antonio Conte: “The ‘No Obligation To Win’ Story No Longer Holds”

Italian journalist Giovanni Capuano commented on Inter’s changing market strategy and decision to pull out of the Sandro Tonali deal in a post on his Twitter page yesterday.

The report details how the Nerazzurri reached an agreement with the 20-year-old Italian midfielder back in April, but failed to close out the deal, leaving the player stuck in limbo and starting pre-season with the Serie B club.

AC Milan took advantage of this hesitation, quickly inserting themselves into the conversation to complete a deal for the Italian.

Coach Antonio Conte met with the Nerazzurri board last week, the report continues, and one of the topics discussed was the transfer market strategy. Considering Inter’s chase of Aleksandar Kolarov and Arturo Vidal, it’s clear that the club have agreed to temporarily suspend their goal of signing young and promising talent in favour of signing experienced winners.

Capuano discussed the situation in a Tweet posted yesterday, saying: “If, as it seems from Milan overtaking lead for Tonali, Conte has obtained from Inter a transfer window of experienced players, immediately aborting the choice of young players, the story of ‘no obligation to win’ the league no longer holds. The gradual process is over.”
