One of the main reasons behind Inter pulling themselves out of the race to sign Sandro Tonali is that the club have chosen to focus on top players rather than young players according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Inter had courted Tonali for some time but the highly rated Italian national team player now looks set to move to crosstown city rivals AC Milan.

One of the top players on Inter’s radar is Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante. Chelsea want €60 million for the 2018 World Cup winning French midfielder and it could be the case that Inter include Marcelo Brozovic in a deal.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta is however engaged in selling players to raise funds to be able to attempt a move for Kante.

The report concludes that Marotta also hopes that Barcelona will accept minimal compensation for Arturo Vidal and in the meantime Radja Nainggolan will return to Inter.
