Inter central defender Stefan de Vrij has revealed that he is talking with compatriot Luuk de Jong again following the Europa League final last month.

Sevilla ran out 3-2 winners over Inter in a thrilling final in Germany with de Jong scoring twice on the night to hand his club the Europa League trophy once again.

“de Jong? Yes, now I have started talking to him again after the final. Now we are teammates again, that’s how it goes,” de Vrij began an interview with the online edition of Dutch news outlet NOS.

“It is a shame we did not manage to win that game. It always remains a disappointment.”

The former Lazio player, who joined Inter on a free transfer in the Summer of 2018, then reflected on the 2019/20 seasona as a whole, that lasted nearly an entire calendar year for the Nerazzurri club.

“It has been a long and special season. We have been playing all summer and we can only rest for a week and now we start again. So it was quite challenging.”

During the 2019/20 season, de Vrij made a total of 46 appearances across all competitions. In just over 3900 minutes on the park, the 28-year-old scored four goals and provided five assists for his teammates.

He was also recognised for his performances in Serie A by being handed the best defender of the 2019/20 season accolade by Serie A.
