Inter and Napoli have held talks over Alex Meret according to a report from Italian broadcaster SportItalia, which was aired a short time ago.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has spoken with Napoli president and owner Aurelio De Laurentiis over the Italian national team goalkeeper regarding signing Meret next Summer.

The Nerazzurri club would like to bring Meret to the club to be the long-term replacement for current number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and Meret’s agent Federico Pastorello, who Inter have great relations with, could be key in a deal being reached.

23-year-old Meret, who is currently under contract with Napoli until the end of the 2022/23 season, is viewed as one of the best young Italian goalkeepers out there at the moment.

During the recently concluded 2019/20 season, the former Udinese player made 29 appearances across all competitions. He conceded 37 goals and managed to keep a total of seven clean sheets in the process.
