Manchester City have already defined the main details of a contract with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Messi rocked the footballing world recently by stating his intention to leave the Blaugrana club and Premier League club Manchester City are trying to take advantage of the situation.

The report explains that Manchester City will pay Messi €50 million net a year for five seasons. He will spend the first three years of his contract with Manchester City and will spend the final two years of his deal with New York City FC in MLS.

Messi’s father Jorge Messi was expected to meet with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu tomorrow to discuss his son’s future but the report adds that it is no longer so certain that this meeting will take place.

As well as Manchester City, both Inter and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with making a move for multi-time world player of the year Messi.
