Inter central defender Milan Skriniar has expressed his gratitude and shared his delight having been named the Slovakian player of the year for 2019.
The 25-year-old actually won the award back in March of this year but due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, he was unable to receieve his award until today.
“I want to thank my teammates, the coaches of the national team and the club,” Skriniar explained in an interview with Slovakian news outlet Teraz.sk, which they shared on their online edition.
“I also want to thank all those who support me, my family and the fans. I am very happy to have won this award, it is a good feeling. This award gives me new life and, obviously, new motivations.”
During the recently concluded 2019/20 season, Skriniar made 42 appearances across all competitions, in which he provided two assists for his teammates.
The former Sampdoria player may also have played his final game for the club with many reports circulating in the media stating that he could be sold in order to raise some all important transfer funds.
Skriniar has been linked with Manchester City and Real Madrid whilst Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made a €50 million offer for him. Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with reports suggesting Inter and Spurs could swap Skriniar and Tanguy Ndombele.
