Inter are interested in signing Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Inter have identified Meret as a potential long term replacement for current number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and Meret’s agent Federico Pastorello, who Inter have good relations with, has spoken to the Napoli leadership about his client.

Inter have made enquries for Meret and have thought about making a cash plus Antonio Candreva offer for the highly rated 23-year-old, who is currently discontent at Napoli due to falling down the pecking order.

The report from the Rome based news outlet explains that Napoli president and owner Aurelio De Laurentiis would reject Inter’s offer if they offered cash plus Antonio Candreva as he wants no less than €50 million for Meret, who is contracted to the club until 2023.

In the 2019/20 season, Meret made 29 appearances, in which he kept a total of seven clean sheets.
