Italian football journalist and Italian broadcaster TeleLombardia director Fabio Ravezzani has shared his reservations about the theory that having players past the age of 30 helps clubs to win more immediately.

Ahead of the upcoming 2020/21 Serie A season, last season’s champions Juventus and runners-up Inter, have both been linked with various players over the age of 30.

Juventus have been linked with potentially bringing in 33-year-old Barcelona striker Luis Suarez to bolster the attack which already contains a 32-year-old Gonzalo Higuain, who is widely expected to depart, and 35-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo.

Roma captain Edin Dzeko has also been strongly linked with a move to the Bianconeri and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team player is 34-years-old.

Inter have also been linked with Dzeko as well as aforementioned Suarez’s Barcelona teammate Arturo Vidal, who is 33-years-old.

Ravezzani took to social media platform Twitter to share his thoughts on the theory and he posted: “Just to be clear, the philosophy of having 30-year-old footballers to win immediately has never convinced me. That applies to Juve (CR7, possible Suarez) and to Inter (Vidal, Dzeko). Unless it is a certainty (Pirlo). Then, as you all know, football can refute any theory.”
