Lazio are very optimistic about their chances of signing Mohamed Fares from SPAL according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriero dello Sport.

In the past few days, Inter showed an interest in signing the Algerian and made a move for him but did so without any real conviction.

Inter offered €1.5 million to loan Fares with a €7 million plus add-ons obligation to buy in the event that Inter qualified for the Champions League.

SPAL however expected more cash, something that Lazio can give them. Lazio upped their offer to €8.5 million plus €1.5 million in add-ons for a total value of €10 million. Fares has already agreed a move to the Italian capital city club and the move could take place within the next two days.

During the recently concluded 2019/20 season, Fares was limited to just nine appearances across all competitions due to injury. In his time on the park, he was unable to make any goal contributions.
