Cagliari manager Eusebio Di Francesco has revealed what he told Radja Nainggolan upon the conclusion of his loan spell with the club and he has hinted that the player could be back soon.

Nainggolan spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Cagliari from Inter and the loan spell came to an end at the end of last month but it might not necessarily be the end for Nainggolan and Cagliari with Cagliari having made no secret of their desire to bring him back to the club in some capacity.

The Belgian midfielder is back at Inter and has started training ahead of the new season with some of the Inter players and it remains to be seen whether he will still be an Inter player when the transfer window closes at the beginning of October.

“We just said goodbye and that we would see each other as soon as possible,” Di Francesco explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was aired a short time ago.

“I do not get involved in negotiations on an economic level, I can only say that with Radja there is a good relationship. He was important for me in Rome, and I noticed it especially in the second year when he wasn’t there there was no leadership. Then he too has a few flaws.”

During his loan spell Nainggolan made 29 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored six goals and provided seven assists for his teammates.
