Italian football journalist Enzo Bucchioni has claimed that it will be easier for Inter to sign Lionel Messi if he stays at Barcelona.

Messi rocked the football world recently by sharing his desire to leave the club he has spent his entire career with but in the past few days a number of reports have suggested he is now likely to stay until the end of the upcoming season, when his contract with the club will expire.

By letting his contract expire, he will then have complete freedom to choose his next club. Inter are not the only club to have been linked with many reports stating Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen.

“Messi’s stroke of anger and his ‘I want to leave’ after the 8-2 loss to Bayern, has put the intermediaries who were working to bring the Argentine to Inter next season in difficulty,” Bucchioni explained in his latest editorial piece for Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

“If he stays in La Liga it will be easier to make him become a Nerazzurri player in a year as he would no longer have a deal with Barcelona. They would only need to pay Messi’s monstrous salary and all his economic bandwagon. It is a possibility that he could be Nerazzurri in July 2021.”

“Inter hopes that Messi will remain at the Blaugrana to continue working to sign him next year.”

Bucchioni proceeded to discuss Inter’s hopes with regard to signing Messi’s Barcelona teammate Arturo Vidal, who they are reportedly set to welcome on a free transfer once he terminates his contract with the Blaugrana.

“They hope that Vidal will be free as soon as possible. He is another of the purged at Barcelona, he does not want severance pay for the last year of his contract and Barcelona is pleasing him by releasing him, he could become a player of the Nerazzurri today on a €6 million a season contract until 2022.”
