Inter centre back Milan Skriniar has shared his delight with being named as the Slovakian player of the year for 2019 and also reaffirmed his commitment to Inter.

“I am very happy for this award. Everyone congratulated me, I am very happy for this award. It is a pity that the news was given to me while I was losing the Europa League final,” he told the official website of the Slovakian national team.

Next Skriniar was asked about losing his place in the Inter team near the end of the 2019/20 season.

“My situation hasn’t changed because up until then I had always been a starter and I only missed the last 5-6 games. This gave the impression that my situation at Inter was terrible, but it isn’t. It is normal and right for Conte to make his own choices.”

Skriniar was then asked about Inter’s 2019/20 campaign in which they came agonisingly close to winning two pieces of silverware.

“Certainly very positive in terms of results and also making a comparison to previous seasons. Of course, this was the best one yet. It’s a pity not to have brought home a trophy though.”

He was then asked why he thinks Conte decided to play Alessandro Bastoni instead of him.

“I don’t think a coach prefers one over another, he simply has 25-30 players available to him and each time he makes choices.”

He was then asked about how he sees future with him having often been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

“Many things are written and said. I have said many times that when there is interest in a player, it is always a pleasure but at the same time I repeat that I am an Inter player and I have a contract with the club for another three years.”

In conclusion Skriniar spoke on what his goals are with both the national team and with Inter.

“I hope to be able to reach the European Championships with Slovakia. At club level, I hope to be able to help the team with my performances.”
