Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni has been forced to leave the Italian national team training camp due to injury, the Italian national team have revealed via their official Twitter account.
Bastoni had been called into the senior national team for the first time for the Azzurri’s upcoming UEFA Nations League clashes against Bosnia and Herzegovina and The Netherlands but will now miss both matches due to a pre-existing muscle injury.
The Italian national team provided minimal information with their release on Bastoni’s injury and it now remains to be seen just how serious the injury is for the highly rated 21-year-old, who had his first team breakthrough at Inter in the last season.
Bastoni has become the second Inter player in the past few days to have picked up an injury whilst on national team duty with fellow defender Stefan de Vrij having picked up a slight ankle sprain whilst away with the Netherlands.
They posted: “Bastoni has been forced to leave the Azzurri training camp on account of a pre-existing muscle complaint.”
