French side Rennes are seriously interested in signing Inter defender Diego Godin and have already start talks with the Nerazzurri and the player’s entourage, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

The report details how the 34-year-old Uruguayan defender, who joined last summer on a free transfer, has struggled to adapt to coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system this season, not particularly impressing in the back three. As such, the club are considering selling him this summer, in order to make space in the squad and lower their overall wage bill.

Over the last few months French side Lyon were linked with Godin, the report continues, but now it seems that fellow Ligue 1 club Rennes are looking to sign the player. They started talks with the Nerazzurri’s management and the player’s entourage recently, and further developments are expected over the next few days as talks progress.
