A report from Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo has confirmed that Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal is close to leaving Barcelona to join Inter, departing on a free transfer a year before his contract expires.

The report details how the 33-year-old Chilean has been directly told by new coach Ronald Koeman that he is no involved in the future project of the club and so is looking to join the Nerazzurri next week to link up again with coach Antonio Conte. Vidal received many tempting offers but the allure of working with the 51-year-old Italian coach proved too enticing to turn down. The duo previously worked together successfully at Juventus.

Vidal underwent an individual training session today alongside a physiotherapist, the report continues, and is expected to travel to Milan on Monday or Tuesday next week in order to undergo his medical examinations with Inter, before signing for the club. Barcelona expect Vidal to give up on the last year of his contract in order to join the Milanese side.
