A report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper la Repubblica has confirmed that there will be no fans present for at least the first two Serie A games of the season.

The report details how the Italian government has given direction that the opening two games of the season must be played behind closed doors still, due to the ongoing effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. UEFA have already announced that their Super Cup final between Bayern Munich and Sevilla will see 30% of total seats filled, but the Italian government are remaining cautious and don’t want to take the risk.

The decree will be valid until the end of the month, the report continues, and therefore will directly affect the first two games of the season. This means that there will be no fans present for the Nerazzurri’s season opener against Fiorentina on September 26th nor for the midweek clash against Benevento after that game.
