Italian journalist Marco Bellinazzo discussed the fears of Inter fans that there have been no large investments into the squad in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radio 24 earlier today.
“We must consider that even for a colossus like the Suning group, Covid-19 has made itself heard, it has represented a very important problem. Therefore, it is natural that more caution will be needed when investing in a bottomless pit like football. That said, I really don’t think they want to stop investing in Inter, on the contrary. It will simply require much more attention.”
He touched on how the club need to collect large external sponsors and perform well on the pitch in order to reach the level of the giant European clubs like Juventus.
“To reach the structural turnover levels of Juventus and the other big European teams, you need large external sponsorships. And to get there, you need wins, you need a great football project and success. Also, at Juventus Marotta had always aimed for a well thought-out, prudent and targeted growth, without overstepping the mark.”
Inter’s owners, the Suning group, have been directed by the Chinese government to stop investments in non-essential foreign sectors in the name of national interests, meaning that the Nerazzurri will now be forced to sell players before they will look to sign new ones. This could happen in the chase of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, with Marcelo Brozovic or Christian Eriksen potentially making way to allow the signing of the 29-year-old French midfielder, who is the top transfer target of coach Antonio Conte. The club are currently working to sign Arturo Vidal, Aleksandar Kolarov and Matteo Darmian.
