A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has confirmed French side Rennes’ interest in Inter’s Diego Godin, but the player is still unsure about the move.

The report details how the Ligue 1 side qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history last season, and so are looking for an experienced defender to help guide the club’s backline and ensure a strong mental stability in big games. The main obstacle currently for Rennes is the 34-year-old Uruguayan’s high wages, although talks are ongoing.

Considering their qualification to the Champions League, the investment may be worth, the report continues. Godin himself is looking for more consistent playing time, especially considering he’s entering the twilight of his career, but is currently unsure about the move. He reportedly spoke to compatriot Edinson Cavani yesterday to discuss the club and the competitiveness of Ligue 1.
