Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia could leave the Nerazzurri soon, with Ligurian side Genoa interested in acquiring the player, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the 32-year-old Italian, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2021, is a much appreciated player by coach Antonio Conte, despite his limited playing time. Whilst the Milanese club would be happy to keep Ranocchia until his contract expires, Genoa’s serious interest may push the club to accept a deal.

Ranocchia only made 12 appearances across all competitions last season, the report continues, and so clearly isn’t central to Conte’s project at the club. Genoa are also interested in former Inter midfielder Borja Valero, who left the Nerazzurri last week after his contract expired with the club. Selling Ranocchia would further lighten Inter’s wage bill, giving them more freedom to pursue other investments into the squad.
