Lazio are working hard to close out deals for Inter linked duo Mohamed Fares and Marash Kumbulla, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the Biancocelesti’s offer for the 24-year-old Moroccan full back convinced SPAL more than the Nerazzurri’s offer. The Roman side offered the club €8.5 million plus add-ons, which has convinced the Ferrara based side to give up on Fares. Inter were close to signing the player last summer before a serious injury caused the deal to collapse. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio met with SPAL last week to discuss a deal but failed to convince them.

Lazio are also working hard to finalise the deal for Hellas Verona’s Kumbulla, the report continues. The two parties have re-opened talks, although it won’t be easy to find an agreement considering that the Biancocelesti’s last offer of €16 million plus Andre Anderson was judged insufficient by the Gialloblu. The Roman side don’t seem willing to increase the offer but are hoping Kumbulla’s interest in joining them will facilitate the deal. Inter have given up on the 20-year-old Albanian.
