This past week Barcelona have tried to reopen talks with Inter over Lautaro Martinez but have failed in their attempts, Italian transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio reported moment’s ago live on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

According to the report, the Blaugrana’s attempts have been thwarted by none other than the the Spanish FA. This after having imposed rules on all La Liga teams, who like Barcelona, are suffering from financial difficulties in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis.

These rules specifically state that no club should be able to sign players without being able to finance those purchases via sales, something the club has failed to do. Therefore, talks over Lautaro Martinez are completely blocked for the time being.

However, Barcelona’s inability to make a move could mean that Lautaro Martinez could reopen talks over a contract extension with Inter, as the report continues, his agents are waiting to meet with the Nerazzurri to discuss the matter shortly.
