Inter will hold new contract talks with Lautaro Martinez and his representatives after the transfer window closes according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.
The 23-year-old Argentine national team player has long been linked with a potential switch to Barcelona but is unlikely to move to the Blaugrana club for a multitude of reasons including Barcelona’s economic problems as well as Inter manager Antonio Conte’s desire to keep him at Inter.
Lautaro currently earns €2.5 million a year plus add-ons from Inter and the report explains that his salary will at least double as part of a new contract with the club.
Inter are thinking of offering him a new deal consisting of €5 million a year in wages plus add-ons. Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio would like to remove his €111 million release clause or at least raise it up to €150 million.
