Andrea Ranocchia is only a matter of days away from completing a return to former club Genoa according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Inter will allow the Italian to leave the club on a free to their fellow Serie A club but Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has asked for time to sort out Inter’s defence from a numbers point of view before a deal can be considered as concluded.
A two year contract is ready for Ranocchia at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, who previously spent three years with Genoa and a six month loan spell at co-occupants Sampdoria.
32-year-old Ranocchia is Inter’s current longest serving player having been with the club since January 2011 and has made 207 appearances across all competitions for the club. During the recently concluded 2019/20 season he made 12 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored one goal.
