Inter attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen has admitted that whilst he would have liked to have played more since joining Inter, he understands the reasons as to why he did not play as much.

Eriksen joined Inter in a circa €20 million deal from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window with Inter beating Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain among other clubs to his signature as they signed him on a four and a half year contract.

Since joining, the former Ajax player has made 26 appearances across all competitions for Inter but his total time on the park only totals 1076 minutes, an average of just 41 minutes per game.

In his time on the park, Eriksen scored four goals and provided his teammates with a total of three assists.

“Of course I would have liked to have played a few more minutes and could have tried something more but it is the manager’s decision as to who should play,” Eriksen began an interview with Danish newspaper Tipsbladet, which appeared in today’s print edition.

“We have earned an incredible number of points as a club, won an incredible number of games and scored an incredible number of goals, more than ever before, and have conceded fewer goals.

“We got to the Europa League final, which we hadn’t reached for many years. So it’s hard to want to go in and say you want to play.

He concluded the interview by adding: “The more minutes you get, the more you can prove yourself but again, obviously we could have done better, but in the end I think it’s hard to change things when the team wins.”
