Inter and Napoli have both expressed an interest in signing Lazio’s Francesco Acerbi according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Acerbi is under contract with Lazio until 2023 but reports had suggested he was looking to get a new deal worth €3.5 million whilst Lazio were only willing to offer him €1.8 million a year.

Acerbi quashed the media speculation but did state that he hopes Lazio communicate with him directly rather than try and communicate with him via the media and if they do the latter, he admitted that a contract extension may no longer be on his mind.

The report from the Milan based news outlet states Inter and Napoli have expressed an interest but neither club have submitted a formal offer for the 32-year-old Italian national team player.

During the 2019/20 season, Acerbi made 45 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he scored two goals and provided two assists for his teammates.
