Inter teen sensation Sebastiano Esposito has reflected on his first goal that he scored for the Inter first team during the recently concluded 2019/20 season.

Esposito’s first goal came in a 4-0 rout of Genoa at San Siro as he scored from the penalty spot after teammate Romelu Lukaku very kindly passed the opportunity to him.

“What do I remember about it? I remember that I was not afriad. I find it hard to believe it if I think about it but if I had to it again now, I would be more afraid. I just told myself that I could do anything but get it wrong,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport, which appeared in today’s print edition.

He was then asked whether Lukaku said anything to him when he handed him the ball to take the penalty.

“He told me to kick it safely and strongly but he had already helped me before as he said ‘Don’t worry, play as you know how to’.

“Between the first and second half I was a bit anxious but he still leaned on me and told me ‘let’s get to the end, the important thing is not the goal but to bring the result home’.”

Italian youth national team player Esposito then spoke on players who he has learned a lot from and spoke on one player in particular who has taught him things.

“I have learned a lot from Romelu, Lautaro, Eriksen, Sanchez. Not only technical gestures but human values. D’Ambrosio, above all, has been a real example to follow for me. He doesn’t play my role, it’s true, but he taught me respect for the others and for the group. These are fundamental things.”

In conclusion he was asked about whether or not his immediate future will be with Inter or if it will be elsewhere amid strong media speculation that he will spend the coming season out on loan.

“I don’t know. I will decide together with the club and my agent what is best. I can say that I love Inter and have done since I was a child. If I have to go on loan, I will have to give my all and then return to Inter. My goal is to play for Inter as long as possible.”
