Inter are working on extending the contract of striker Lautaro Martinez according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

The 23-year-old Argentine national team forward is already under contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season and club management are working on an extension that would keep him with the club until 2025.

Inter could raise Lautaro’s salary to €6 million, which is just about three times what he currently earns per season, €2.2 million.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta would like to remove the €111 million release clause in his contract whilst his agents are open to discussing changes to the clause but not necessarily remove it.

The report goes on to state that the chances of Lautaro leaving for Barcelona are slim with the Blaugrana club, who have been courting him for a considerable amount of time, unable to offer any more than €50-60 million. They have now seemingly set their sights on Lyon’s Memphis Depay, who will be cheaper to acquire.
