Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has insisted that he wishes to keep central midfielder N’Golo Kante at the club amid ongoing speculation regarding the Frenchman’s future.

Inter have been strongly linked with making a move for Kante with him understood to be the player at the top of Inter manager Antonio Conte’s transfer wishlist.

Reports have also stated that Chelsea want in the region of €60 million for the former Leicester City player but Lampard, who is into his second season managing the Premier League side, has no plans on giving up the tireless 29-year-old.

“I think every club in the world wants a player like Kanté, he’s an incredible player,” former England national team player Lampard explained when he appeared as a guest on the BBC 5 Sport Live podcast.

“I certainly don’t want to lose him, as he is very important for the type of style I want to play. In the last season he did not have the continuity that he did in the last 4-5 years due to some injuries.

“Now, however, he is really fine. So I’m happy to have him with me and I definitely want to keep him.”

Kante joined Chelsea in 2016 off the back of playing a pivotal role in Leicester City’s fairytale Premier League win and he still has three years left to run on his contract.

Last season he made 28 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored three goals.
