Inter and Juventus have both made contact with Marcelo to gauge his interest over a potential move according to a report from the online edition of Spanish daily newspaper AS.

Both clubs contacted the Brazilian defender’s agents to find out if there is any willingness to enter into negotiations and whilst the player was understood to be willing to listen to what the club’s had to say, neither Inter nor Juventus can afford to pay Marcelo’s current salary of €8 million net a year.

The 32-year-old left back has been with Los Blancos since 2007 and has a contract with them through to the end of the 2021/22 season.

Last season Marcelo made just 23 appearances across all competitions, due largely in part to a series of injuries. In his time on the park, which totalled just shy of 1900 minutes, Marcelo scored a total of two goals and also managed to provide seven assists for his teammates.
