Inter could bring in Marash Kumbulla to replace Diego Godin according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Uruguayan national team defender Godin looks set to depart Inter for Cagliari and his departure will open up a space in the defence and will also relieve Inter of a big salary. Godin earns €5.5 million net a year from Inter and will spread what remains of his Inter contract across a three year deal with Cagliari.
Once he leaves, his place will be taken by Kumbulla who can fulfil all roles in the three man defensive line. Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio have intensified talks with Hellas Verona for Kumbulla.
The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that the exit of Andrea Ranocchia, who is set for Genoa, will open the door for versatile Parma defender Matteo Darmian to arrive.
