Inter are interested in signing Chelsea full back Marcos Alonso and have a plan to sign the player, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri’s attempts to sign Italian-Brazilian full back Emerson Palmieri fell flat, with the Blues refusing the loan with a buy option attached offered by the Milanese club.

Following on from this, the club decided to look at alternatives to the 25-year-old, with one already a popular idea. Coach Antonio Conte is a big fan of Alonso and has fond memories of their time together in London.

Considering that the start of the season is only a few weeks away, Inter will need to remain confident in signing the player before the end of the transfer window, the report continues.

The club are planning to wait until near the date of closure before moving to sign the 29-year-old Spaniard, in order to force Chelsea into giving up on the player due to squad overcrowding. The offer will also be a loan with a buy option attached.
