Zenit St. Petersburg president Alexander Medvedev discussed the rumours that the Russian club are interested in signing Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen and Real Betis forward Nabil Fekir in an interview with Russian news outlet Russian.RT.com earlier today, as reported by FcInter1908.

“I don’t even want to waste time with this stuff. People live in a virtual world. Evidently they play video games and thus create teams.”

The 28-year-old Eriksen, who joined the Nerazzurri from Premier League side Tottenham in the January transfer window in a deal worth around €20 million, has struggled to adapt to coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system, disappointing many in his first half-season in the Lombard capital.

Eriksen, who is contracted to the Milanese club until 2024, made 26 appearances across all competitions for Conte’s team, scoring four goals and providing three assists in that time.

The player’s natural position doesn’t fit well in Conte’s traditional 3-5-2 formation and so a new 3-4-1-2 system was developed, but results failed to match the tried and tested set-up.

The former Spurs midfielder may be sold this window in order to help the club fund other investments.
