Diego Godin To Leave Inter & Sign For Cagliari Over Next 48 Hours Italian Media Claim

Inter defender Diego Godin is expected to sign for fellow Serie A side Cagliari in the next 48 hours, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the 34-year-old Uruguayan is set to depart from the Lombard capital after only one season, due to the fact that he struggled to adapt to coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system and preference for a three-man backline.

The Nerazzurri were happy for Godin to depart and will pay part of his wages until the end of September plus a bonus to help facilitate the move away from Milan.

The former Atletico Madrid defender will spread out the difference in wages with a multi-year contract, the report highlights.

The move is a success for the Nerazzurri, considering the player’s high wages and relatively lackluster appearances, especially considering the performances of 21-year-old Italian defender Alessandro Bastoni.
