Barcelona attempted to ask for information about Inter defender Stefan de Vrij but the Nerazzurri didn’t even want to enter talks, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the Blaugrana, under the guidance of new coach Ronald Koeman, are looking to strengthen their defense and asked for information about the 28-year-old Dutch defender, who Koeman knows well from his time in charge of the Netherlands.

Inter refused to enter discussions, the report continues, as the club have no interested in losing De Vrij, who is considered a key point of coach Antonio Conte’s project at the club.

Contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, the 28-year-old Dutchman made 46 appearances across all competitions last season, for a total of 3906 minutes. In that time, he scored four goals, provided five assists and helped the side keep 14 clean sheets, being one of the strongest defenders in the league.
