Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham are interested in signing Lazio and Inter target Marash Kumbulla, according to a report from Verona based newspaper L’Arena yesterday.

The report details how the 20-year-old Albanian defender has been linked with moves to the Biancocelesti and Nerazzurri for some time now, but neither club has managed to close out a deal for the Hellas Verona talent.

With less than a month left in the transfer window, the race to sign the player is likely to heat up.

Mourinho’s Tottenham are looking for a new centre back after the departure of Jan Vertonghen earlier in the year, and think Kumbulla could be a good option, the report continues.

Currently Spurs have only registered their interest and asked for information, but developments are expected.

Kumbulla made 26 appearances across all competitions last season for the Gialloblu, for a total of 2078 minutes.

In that time, he scored one goal and helped the side keen seven clean sheets, being one of the most impressive young defenders in the league.
